AITA for Confronting & Challenging the Judges of a Music Competition (No Music Knowledge Needed)

Hi there hello. Over the past several hours, I have been engaging in a debate on a public, community-based music program. To summarize, a few months ago, prominent members of the community banded together to host a bracket-style music competition, where those accepted into the competition from a preliminary round would go on to compete against other qualifiers. Round One officially ended about fifteen hours ago, & there have been twelve total threads opened due to the outrage. Essentially, whereas all the other judges provided high scores for most of the contestants & provided critical, well-contructed feedback, there was one judge, \[Judge 1\], who gave several participants abhorrent scores–ones that received 80 points from other judges received 25 points–gave one person, \[User 6\], a high score compared to the rest, topping the chart by over fifteen points, & in his feedback sections wrote things like, “I like percussion yippee," "I did judge your musescore thing okay the one in the audio file was bugged but because I did that you don’t get any feedback hehehehehehehehe sorry time minus maybe idk," "Time minus = byebye have fun deciphering my thoughts," "feedback \[sic\]," & "I’m too lazy to write in this text box sorry." & in the vast majority of feedback sections, \[Judge 1\] simply copy-and-pasted the words “functional feedback” over & over, verbatim. A lot of people got upset because they felt \[Judge 1\] should either provide an explanation for why their scores were so low or otherwise have his scores discounted from the total. Then, \[Judge 2\] came in, stating how the judges providing feedback is completely optional, & we all argued against that, proclaiming that such was a fundamental problem with their system. I, meanwhile, attempted to confront \[Judge 1\], who admitted to being on a time crunch, to which I called out that as being neglectful as it’s not giving our pieces the necessary time to allow us to grow as composers, & \[Judge 2\] claimed it was largely due to time constraints on their end & that you can gather more than enough information on how to improve from the scores alone, although feedback does help. Mainly, in my confrontation of \[Judge 1\], I attempted to highlight how this could be seen as neglectful on our part, to which \[Judge 2\] & \[User 2\] responded by claiming I was misrepresenting \[Judge 1\] & attacking him personally, although that was not my intention.

That being said, I admit I may have been rather harsh in my post, but I’m not really certain on whether I’m definitively in the wrong here, given the full context.

If you care to read on, I relayed all twelve of the threads about the scoring, verbatim, in the order I figured would make the most logical sense, as there was a lot of jumping between them in conversation.

Thank you all.

(By the way, mods, any usage of the Em Dash gets my post automatically flagged as being written by AI :/ no clue if that’s a Reddit thing or a Sub thing).
