AITA for having friends over after adopting a cat with my roomate

So five days ago, I (f18) and my roomate (r24) adopted a cat (f10) from the local shelter. We’ve been planning it for a while, and everything was going smoothly.
When getting the cat, the shelter’s worker told us that it was better if the cat remained in the same room for about 3 Day, and to avoid stressful situation : so my roomate and I agreed that I wouldnt bringue more than 1 friend over at the time.
My roomate has been really protective of the cat, but I just found it kinda cute and let her do her thing !

Fast forward to now, the cat is doing good and now roam freely around our flat : she has met my friends individually over the last Day, and seem to be like being aroung them.
After class, we went back to the appartement together (We’re 4 including myself) and when my roomate saw us she seemed really sad, and ask me privately when they were leaving (she was super nice about it, but it was our First "serious" talk). My friends left shortly after, but now She’s giving me the Cold shoulder…

I really would like to know if I’m in the wrong because I saw her like one of my friends and don’t want to ruin our friendship 🙁

  1. Is English your second language? There are a lot of typos that make it kind of hard to parse your meaning.

Let me get this straight: the cat has been in your place for 5 days and is now allowed out in common spaces. You had multiple friends over and the cat seemed fine. Your roommate is upset you had friends over. Is that what is happening?

    1. Yes, Its my second langage srry about the typos ! My auto corrector is making it even harder by being in the wrong language 😞
And yep that’s it, thanks for taking the time to sum it up !

      1. Haha I had a feeling. Did the cat freak out or hide, or otherwise seem like it was scared? Cause if the cat was totally fine with having multiple friends in the shared space, then NTA. Maybe your roommate didn’t want you having so many friends over and was using the cat as an excuse?

        1. Honestly that cat is old af and don’t really give a fuck about me, my roomate and my friends. She likes pats but won’t come begging, and she was resting elsewhere While my friends were here…
But I thought about it being an excuse, and I think you’re probably right ! She usually get on pretty well with my friends, but I’d totally understand that She could want to have more peace at home… THANK YOU SM FOR YOUR TIME AND OPINION 💯💯💯💯

          1. You are so welcome!! Actually, I changed my mind. Yta for not paying the cat tax!! I wanna see the baby!!!

  2. NTA. The agreement was for 3 days and the cat has already met all of your friends prior, so there shouldn’t be any issue. Did the cat show any signs that they were uncomfortable, or was it just your roommate that had an issue?

    1. Thanks for your opinion !!! That cat is old af and don’t really give a fuck about anybody, and She was resting elsewhere While my friends were over so I guess it’s a roomate issue 🙂

  3. NAH but this sounds unrelated to the cat. How long have you lived with this roommate? Have you set rules around guests? Maybe she didn’t feel like having people over that day or would have appreciated a heads up that people were coming. Talk to her.

  4. NTA. You are being normal. She is not. You can’t cater to her and make your world smaller because of her over-sensitivity to the cat, who is doing well.

  5. NTA. I read in another comment you made that she was just chilling/napping while you had friends over. She’s fine. Roomie is being a little over the top but hopefully as time passes and they observe kitty’s comfort level they’ll get over it.

  6. What? Not sure I understand the connection between a new cat and friends over. How long have you been roommates?
