Me and my brother were out shoveling when my neighbour pulls into his driveway, he gets out of his car and says “are you guys up for hire?”. I thought he was joking because he has a snow blower and we were shoveling manually. My neighbour then grabs a shovel, shovels his shirt walkway, then drives away. My brother got on my case for saying no because he wanted the money, but we had already been out there for like 20 minutes and we weren’t even close to finishing. Was I in the wrong?
NAH. He asked & you answered. Also brother could have said yes and earned the money. I see no problem here.
NTA!
Your brother should have spoken up. He could have done it himself and kept the money. NTA
NTA, your neighbour asked and you said NO, case closed.
How did you respond? Why couldn’t your brother have said yes?
NTA. You thought he was joking, so you said no. Your brother could’ve spoken up and accepted the offer, but he didn’t, so that’s on him.
NTA
>My brother got on my case for saying no because he wanted the money
Sounds like your brother should have spoken up for himself, not your fault he didn’t.
NAH. If your brother had wanted to hire himself out, he should have spoken up for himself instead of deferring to you. It’s perfectly fine for your neighbor to ask, it’s perfectly fine for you to turn him down, and it would have been perfectly fine for your brother to volunteer to shovel your neighbor’s driveway himself.
NTA! Your bother has a voice of his own.
Your brother was annoyed??? Hahaha, he can do whatever HE pleases. NTA.
NTA. Is your brother somehow incapable of saying/expressing the phrase “yes”?
NTA & not ur driveway
NTA
your brother had the option of saying yes, he CHOSE not to.
