AITA for refusing to give my brother more than the game was worth when I accidentally used his card?

I’m pet sitting for my brother for a few days and he let me use his Xbox while I was there. I logged into it with my account, and I was under the impression that payment methods were tied to my account and not the console. After I bought the game, I realized that I used his card instead of mine. I Zelled him the exact amount that the game was worth and told him in a text. He now wants me to send him more money than I paid for the game and I refused since I didn’t see any reason why I would need to. He is now angry with me and is saying I need to pay him more, AITA?

ETA: Completely forgot to include why he wanted more. I charged his credit card so he wanted me to incorporate intrest into the total.

ETA: I guess I worded it poorly in the post, but I gave him tax as well. The game was 70 bucks and I gave him 74.55

  1. omg i did the same thing with my roommates playstation once 😭 you already paid him back the exact amount, what more does he want??

  2. Info: Was tax involved that might have made it higher?

If you paid exactly what was spent, I’m not sure I understand why he’s mad.

  3. You accidentally put a charge to his card. If you send him the exact amount of the charge, its a net change of zero.

Why would you even consider this a question?

How much more does he want and what is his justification? I mean for that matter I can tell my friend I just want her to give me $50 for no reason…make it make sense.

  5. Was tax included and did it over draft his account? If it over drafted his account, you should be covering whatever fees that caused, not to mention the transfer fees if you sent it via Venmo or something.

  6. NTA. You paid him back immediately so there isn’t any interest. Credit cards don’t charge interest unless the balance isn’t paid for 30 days.

  7. The interest only happens if he likes to carry a balance on the card, which also isn’t a good idea. He needs to take the money you sent him and immediately apply it to the card to avoid that.

  8. Heaven have mercy, I’m not even this petty with my ex husband. Just…no. Accidents like this happens sometimes. You paid the exact amount, you can put it towards his credit card.

  9. So he doesn’t plan to pay off the balance and is going to carry it, accruing interest, even though you paid him right back? Does he know he can make one time CC payments? Make a payment right now using the money you gave him and you’re square. If he’s not going to pay it off even though he has the full amount to do so, you shouldn’t be responsible for the interest.

Out of curiosity, are you being paid to pet sit for your brother? Because if he really wants to start down that road, you should charge him the rates that professional pet sitters charge.

  11. It’s only interest if he doesn’t pay it off on the next bill.

If he puts that money on his credit card immediately then there won’t be any interest from it.
