Quick one.
Someone sent me a Whatsapp voice message, saying they were looking for Person A (which is ***most definitely*** not me).
Except I just woke up from bed. TLDR bad sleep, woke up wrong side of bed kind of bad. And I thought it was office people sending me messages… and it’s not.
Now me grumpy af because my sleep got disturbed from the notification. And it’s some random stranger looking for someone else (definitely not me).
So I shouted back at them, very loudly, and in local language: "WRONG. NUMBER." Before blocking and reporting immediately.
(Plus, I do not know how they got my number, or how they got through my number. I even got a number blocker app on my phone to prevent scam callers and messages man.)
Would I be the ass here if I just dropped a nuke on someone’s ears for screwing with my sleep?
YTA. If you don’t want your sleep disturbed by random messages, put your phone on silent mode.
I would love to, but there have been days where I silenced the phone before sleeping and then woke up to see important messages or missed calls.
The urgent “Oh no someone in the office has made a big oopsie, we need your help to save our sorry bum (not literally, you get what I mean)” kind.
So as much as I want to silent my phone, I don’t have the option to. (That, and somehow I do appreciate the urgent messages because they kick me out of bed fully fresh and awake. Sometimes, not all the time).
You can change your settings so only certain people and apps can get through… YTA.
YTA. The world doesn’t revolve around your sleep schedule. There was no need for you to report them for having the wrong number. You don’t want to put your phone on silent? Then you can deal with possibly getting woken up.
YTA. They didn’t “disturb your sleep”. You worded the title as if they purposefully took time out of their day to disturb you. They just made a mistake. You overreacted & your excuse for it is “I’m grumpy 😠”. Grow up.
This is LOW stakes :/
Kinda YTA, understandable from being woken up from sleep by a random stranger. I expect that they will move on with their lives, as you should.
Also, stop being paranoid. Scammers these days literally use autodiallers with every possible number combination, hoping to land responses, and change numbers so fast that the blockers are always playing catchup. It’s annoying. All you can do is block, and if you don’t want to be woken up, set your notifications to silent rather than letting stuff like this wreck your day.
YTA. No doubt about it.
YTA. I’ve had tons of people text or call me by mistake. They’re not doing it to be mean. It was an accident.
YTA. Someone called the wrong number looking for someone else. This wasn’t a personal attack to screw with your sleep. Just because you’re grumpy doesn’t mean you should act immature and “drop a nuke” on someone’s ears.
Of course YTA. Someone made an innocent mistake and you screamed at them. Grow up.
YTA.
I get that being grumpy can affect how you think, but girl you kinda ruined his day D:
YTA – it’s ur own fault for putting ur phone on silent, and a number blocker app isn’t gonna block non suspicious ones like this innocent guys. But doesn’t matter honestly, u don’t even know the guy, just be better next time
