AITA for telling my old coworker “Merry F****** Christmas”?

So, this happened a few years ago. And I was just telling my partner about it. He doesn’t think I’m the asshole. But there’s been some debate.

So, some years ago, I was doing some grocery shopping in a store that I used to work at. So, I got along pretty well with the people there.

Except this one guy.

And go figure, I had to go through his cash.

Now. For context, it was around this time of year. So I was wearing an ugly Christmas sweater that literally said "Merry F**king X-Mas"

So, when I walked up to his cash, he looked me up and down, and sneered at me. He said "I can’t believe they let you in here wearing that"

I was so genuinely confused. Cause this place I used to work at.. they had a page of people wearing shit there. So I asked what he meant.

He says "That shirt has a curse word on it. You shouldn’t be allowed in here. It’s offensive and not very ladylike, OP. If I were a manager, I wouldn’t let you in here."

By the time he was done, he scanned my few items, and I had paid.

So, on my way out, I looked at him and said "Merry F**king Christmas!" And walked right out. He clutched his non existant pearls as I walked away

My bf at the time (who was with me and watched the whole thing) was offended. Said I was the one being rude and disrespectful to a man.

What do you guys think? AITA ?

  1. He immediately lost me at ‘not ladylike’. NTA. I would have done the exact same thing. The only reason my partner gets upset if I do something like that is because he’s worried someone is eventually going to punch me in the face.
