AITA for telling someone that they have toilet paper stuck on their pants at the airport ?

AITA for telling a lady at the airport who was in a line just ahead of me that there was a piece of toilet paper stuck to her pants on her butt? It was a slightly long piece of paper and was sticking out from her butt area, so i told her ‘excuse me, there is toilet paper stuck on you’, in what i think was a soft voice so that only she could hear me. She looked at me and said i should mind my own business and asked why i am looking at her in an inappropriate way!

Not sure if this part is relevant, but I’m a man in my forties and she was definitely older than me, I’d say around 60 or so, and i just wanted to help, that’s all. Why did she (possibly) think that i was looking at her inappropriately ? She did remove the paper from herself but instead of saying thanks she basically told me off.

  1. NTA.

People react unpredictably when they’re embarrassed.
She is probably just panicked and hoping that nobody else saw. She could have been nicer about it but it happens.

I did basically the same thing a few years ago. A woman had somehow tucked her skirt into her tights. I told her. She reacted angrily.

I realized that I’m basically interrupting her day to tell her something embarrassing. It’s not my fault, I’m just the messenger. But it’s still a terrible experience for her. Even if it could have been worse if I hadn’t spoken up.

  2. NTA she was embarrassed and caught off guard, but doesn’t justify her reaction. You did the right thing, don’t let that experience deter you from continuing to do so, thanks for trying to help her

  3. She thought you were looking at her inappropriately because the toilet paper was stuck on a part of her that would be rude to stare at.

She expressed hostility rather than gratitude not because she was rocking the latest toilet paper fashions, but because she was feeling embarrassed, which made her defensive, which made her attack you. Not a great look.

    NTA

  4. I would be embarrassed because of the toilet paper, but also ever grateful. Some people are just awful. She deserved to be trailing toilet paper.
