AITA for telling staff on my friend?

My friend told me she was going to commit so I told staff what she said and that I was worried about her and she’s mad at me now. She’s not talking to me and got our whole friend group hating me for telling staff I was worried about her.

Should I have just stayed silent and waited till she actually did something to voice my concern?

  1. Imagine how you would feel if she actually did it, and she told you and you didn’t do anything about it. NTA. You did exactly what you should have done. She may be mad now, and that’s okay, as long as she’s getting the help she needs.

And if she didn’t mean it and was just doing it for attention, then hopefully she learns not to do it again and to seek attention more appropriately.

As for your friend group… ask them what would have happened if she had actually done it, and you knew about it and did nothing. Would they blame you? If they were the ones who knew about it and did nothing would they blame themselves?
