I(27F) turned my boyfriend’s(36M) very large pelican case (I could fit inside it) into a cat shelter. It was empty and has been sitting around for a while. It didn’t appear like he had any intention of using it. I took the foam out and everything then cut a hole and added insulation, so it can’t really be fixed or anything.
When I showed him it, he just stared at the case blankly. He has been refusing to talk to me. Its been a couple days. The most I got out of him was “I hope the cats are warm”. I told him “they are warm”, I figured he would understand and just purchase a new one if it was so important. I don’t think he’s justified in giving me the cold shoulder and treating me unwell.
Dude why are you even on this subreddit? YTA… of course you are. You even know it, you just want to try to get validation from strangers because you feel embarrassed that you are in the wrong
YTA. pelican cases (especially larger ones) are expensive. you should have bought an $8 rubbermaid container to make a shelter out of. even one that’s carry-on sized is around $200
YTA not yours to take and turn into a shelter for cats.Even if he wasn’t using it you should’ve asked before taking anything of his.
“I took my boyfriend’s several hundred dollar case he owns and without asking him, transformed it beyond repair. He’s visibly upset but it’s already done and he should just get over it.” There I fixed it for you. YTA
YTA if you didn’t ask first. Just checked what a pelican case was and the larger cases run anywhere from $300 to over $1200.
I had no idea what a pelican case was, but Google has since informed me that YTA.
YTA. I like cats, but you just assumed he didn’t care about the container and decided that meant he waived the right to be asked before you repurposed it.
Have you seen how much they cost before you thought he could get a new one?
OMG… YOU ARE SOOO THE AH!!
Why wouldn’t you look it up, if you didn’t know what it was, before destroying it? 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
YTA. It was his, you should’ve asked first.
Go look up how much his model costs, and tell him you apologize and plan to replace it.
YTA- it’s not OK to take something that isn’t yours without permission. The fact that you damaged it to the point it can’t be used for its intended purpose is doubly bad. Those cases can cost over $1,000. You’re lucky you’re just getting the cold shoulder. I would be asking for the case to be replaced ASAP
YTA. You don’t destroy someone else’s property without asking. That’s the baseline.
YTA he probably spent a few hundred on that. Its not like converting a cheap cooler into cat shelter.
YTA If you didn’t ask first.
YTA
You destroyed someone else’s property without permission
If it was an actual Pelican case that size, it was worth several hundred dollars if not over $1000.
Also why should he have to replace property that you destroyed.
