so recently i told my friend to start watching smallville amidst its arrival onto netflix, now i was careful when sending her edits and so forth as i didnt wanna give anything away but i had just assumed that she had known clark and lex were destined to be enemies. So one day we’re watching the show and she was talking about how much she loved clark and lex’s relationship and i had said offhandedly without really thinking “i know it’s so sad they’re enemies” to which she paused and was like “what???” and i turned to her and i go “u know like how superman and lex are like arch nemesis???” and she’s like “i didn’t know that???” i was so shocked i thought it was common knowledge to everyone kind of like batman and the joker. She claims it’s ruined the show abit for her but i genuinely don’t believe its a spoiler 😭. I did know she didn’t really have any knowledge about superman lore but i didn’t realise it was genuinely 0 knowledge as in she started the show and didn’t realise clark kent was superman😭. Now i feel bad 😭😭😭

It’s like saying Titanic Sinks at the end. Everyone should know by now. If she has watched literally ANY of the DC movies she would know.
I watched Smallville when it first came out. Everyone’s surprised that they were friends at first. Everyone knew that an inevitable friendship break-up was coming. 😅

NTA. That is common knowledge and so it’s part of the dramatic irony of the show. Knowing it is half the point when watching it.
Im putting my foot down on this. If its over a decade old, you cant reasonably expect to stay spoiler free if you want to talk about something. You had 15 years to catch up, now either stay home until youre done watching it or deal with the “spoilers.”

First of all, Smallville is too old of a show, it has gone past the statute of limitations and no one is allowed to complain about spoilers for something that has been out for that long.
Second, that’s not even a spoiler. It’s part of the show’s tension/plot drive that the audience already knows Clark Kent and Lex Luthor end up enemies.
NTA Lex luthor and superman have been enemies since Lex was introduced in 1940, so if spoilers arnt safe after 86 years everyone everywhere is screwed.
