I started a new job relatively recently that has me up in mornings and I am a light sleeper. Does it make me the AH that I want the door shut in order to stop our cat from waking me up through the night? My bf is a ‘door kept open allow animals in and out freely’ style person I’m a ‘doors shut for bed time’; until now I have simply tolerated being woken up as well as not using my preferred blankets and not sleeping ‘safely’ as the cat tends to go for me in my sleep as well as get into things in the room that are meant to be ‘off limits’. Cat was adopted relatively recently as well so he is still quite young \[little over a year, adopted maybe half a year ago\]
edit/ cat has been kicked out for whatever reasons before. has never cared jus does his thing
NTA. Every single time the cat wakes you up at night, wake your boyfriend up and tell him to entertain the cat. He wants the cat in the room, he doesn’t care about your sleep, he can be the one to keep the cat away from you. Once he’s getting up all night he’ll probably care more about sleeping without the cat in the room.
The fact that he cares more about the cats freedom of movement than your sleep is a huge red flag. Sleep is super important, this isn’t just two people having a difference of opinion, you are asking for something for your health and he doesn’t want to do it for a minor preference. That is concerning, and I would be looking to see if he is selfish in other ways.
Also someone needs to play with the cat during the day, cat sounds bored.
