AITA for wanting to bring my laptop?

So I’m 15M in Jamaica atm (Just for school) and im going up to canada for a bit like a week or two, and i want to bring my laptop with me but theyre for some reason not allowing me? even though its the laptop ive used for 2 years and counting, my computer in canda doesn’t have any of the same stuff my laptop does which to me is important, my aunt has done this before and hasnt given a good reason
but now my sister is involved because this time she is saying "unless its for your school work" i wouldn’t need to bring it, but I want to bring it because my pc in canada is having issues atm (mostly with the wifi adapter and its stuck on windows 10) and as ive mentioned before, everything i have is on the laptop especially considering that the PC i built is barely 3 months in use
they even took my laptop TODAY when i wasnt in my room so i couldn’t put it in my bag
its honestly pissing me off and I feel like im being a jerk for asking and pushing about it????

sorry if reading it is a bit confusing I just poured my thoughts into it raw

I’ll respond to anything I can

      1. Because you’re there for a family trip.

If it’s for school? Sure. Bring it.

If it’s for watching Netflix? No.

  1. You’re not being allowed to bring it because they want you to engage in the trip and not to be on your computer the whole time.

That’s a pretty easy reason to figure out.

    1. That and/or they want to protect it from getting damaged or lost during travel. All perfectly reasonable things.

  2. So … problem is customs …  they can confiscate your laptop if they want to.
Especially if you have a layover in america.

The other problem is ypu can just super lock your computer so no one can access it till you get home. Ie cut the internet and password restrict EVERYTHING.
