AITA? Ok she is French and she keeps on going on about stolen Land and reperations and I dissagree with her and I give her my arguments,
Firstly I tell her that France has terrortries in New Caledonia, French polynisia, Saint Barthélémy, St Martin,
They occupy, Sénégal, Guadeloupe, dominica, Mauitania, Guinée, Haiti, Algeria, Martinique, and the Ivory coast. I tell her that France should pays reperationscto these countries and she gets pissed off with me. Am I the arsehole?

    1. Are you purposely ignoring all the overseas territories France held on to such as Ascension and what was mentioned above?

  1. The fact that France has colonies doesn’t change the fact that US is stolen land.
YTA. Actually I will go as far as to say you are both TAH

  2. The USA is stolen land though …. From the native American population though not France.

Australia, NZ…. All of it is stolen.

  3. Soft YTA. It is. You are not your country, you don’t need to defend every shitty part of its history, and nobody else needs to be made to defend their own country’s past.

  4. Well, she’s right that the USA is stolen land, but also hypocritical with her defensiveness. I mean, the Louisiana Purchase was the US buying a huge chunk of territory from the French, and if that land is stolen now, then it was stolen when the French had it, so they are complicit in said theft, I’d think.

    1. There probably isn’t a square meter of inhabited land on earth that has been uninterruptedly inhabited by the offspring of the people who first cultivated it.

People act as if Europeans suddenly got the idea of conquering and invaded peaceful paradises, where in reality, other empires existed, and war, and slavery – often just as as or much more brutal than the European version.

  5. Did France had and still have colonies (despite being DROM-COM today) ? Yes. Does that mean you can’t say that the USA are a stolen land ? No. I don’t think the whataboutism is a good argument. YTA
