Okay, so me & bf recently got our apartment in October last year. He just had his birthday on dec. 29. For his present he wanted an animal so he found a baby kitten. I was fine with it, we bought all the stuff it needs. Spent more on the cat then we spend on ourselves. So fast forward to present day ive been dealing with super bad allergies I’ve been allergic to cats my whole life but i thought we’d give it a try.. he said he will give it away for my health but now since someone wants to pick it up he’s sad that he has to give it up.. he wanted to see your opinions. I’m 35 weeks pregnant, and sick plus allergies I think it’s the best we can do.. I feel bad but allergies feel worse.

YTA for taking in an animal that you are allergic too. This is a living creature.
YTA for agreeing to get a cat when you’ve been “super allergic to them” your whole life. What did you think was going to happen?
YTA for gifting him a kitten to begin with knowing that you’ve been allergic to cats your whole life.
YTA for even getting him a cat when you knew you were allergic. There are hypoallergenic cats out there, and even food you can give a regular cat to make it more hypoallergenic. Instead of these options, you agreed to get a cat, and then went back on that after he had two weeks to bond with the kitten. That’s cruel to him and to the kitten.
Before you give up the kitten, research hypoallergenic food additives and see if they work for you.

YTA for letting him get the kitten at all, you already knew about your allergies and your pregnancy. Absolutely awful to take that kitten, when in reality you knew you would eventually do away with it again

If you knew you were allergic to cats why the hell would you get a cat if you weren’t going to stick it out? If you hadn’t known then it would be N A H but you did know. And now your bf and his cat are both going to have a hard time because you decided to be wishy-washy about animals and your own allergies.
For the cat’s sake…YTA. Both of you knowing that you are allergic and getting one anyways is irresponsible.
YTA for getting a cat when you’re both allergic and pregnant. It doesn’t matter how much you spent on it–it was an irresponsible decision. I hope the kitten ends up in a good home.
You are allergic to cats and spent a lot of money on a cat that you knew you could not keep. A month ago you are on here begging for a carseat because you could not afford one and had a doctor’s appointment for the child.
