I 18 f live in an apartment with my older sister 22 her husband 21 and their almost 6 month old baby. Context i smoke weed, i have a Tourette’s and a stress disorder that i use weed to help me calm down and also to have a buzz. The apartment technically belongs to my mother but she doesnt live here, i have been for the longest, i pay the rent, wifi and anything connected with the apartment. They were facing eviction and my mother texted me asking if it was okay for them to stay here with me until they get on to their feet again and knowing that they wouldn’t have anywhere else to go i said yes because thats my family. I gave up the only room in the apartment so they could have privacy and i ended up having to make a makeshift room in the apartment( its whatever). Its cold as balls outside below the 50’s and im not trying to smoke outside, its my apartment i should feel comfortable to do as i please in my apartment is how i feel but she got upset bc she said the baby cant be inhaling it which i understand but they are in the only other place with a closed door (the other one being the bathroom). Yes. This is your family that you agreed to help and house while they get on their feet. Just go outside. Who smokes inside anyways? I get that it’s cold but nobody should be smoking in their home. It’s a rental right? The walls, flooring, yuck. Don’t be the person who smokes around an infant.
Yes YTA because of the baby. I’m sorry, it’s not fair to you, but nevertheless. Maybe you can use your car? And maybe you should have told everybody, including your mom who owns the apartment, that you would refuse to give up smoking inside?
