AITAH for wanting death row inmates to die by having their organs harvested and given to people who actually deserve them?

AITAH for wanting death row inmates to die by having their organs harvested and given to people who actually deserve them?

This could open up a whole new world for people who need organs and would die without them. No more pressuring family members into donating kidneys; just rip one out of a baby raper!

  1. Most people who are on death row are not candidates for organ harvesting due to prior drug use and communicable diseases. Doctors also wouldn’t do it.

  2. In general, it is a poor choice to incentivize finding people guilty, for example so you can take their organs and sell them to others who want them, or so that you can sell their labor for pennies on the dollar. Secondly, YTA for thinking the death penalty is justice in the first place.

Edit: Lol, OP’s profile talks a big game about civil liberties, in grand contrast to this post.

  3. I don’t believe death row should exist at all. Too many innocent people are punished, and organ harvesting as an execution method is far too barbaric.

  4. YTA. And a sicko. For so many reasons. But, the first that pops into mind is the staggering ignorance it requires to believe every inmate on death row was properly tried and is actually guilty. Or that the inherent prejudices of our society, imperfect legal processes, for-profit prison systems, and hit-or-miss court-appointed legal representation make the existence of the death penalty even remotely morally defensible. Get an actual grip.

  5. Yes YTA because of the consequences. Right now we have record incarceration rates just due to for profit prisons. It highly incentivizes the system to put people in prison. IF you started making it advantageous to execute people, then voila… more people would be sent to death row and killed. That is a slippery slope we should 100% not go down.

  6. Yta, should look into death row and wrongful convictions before deciding people’s organs should be taken. Please also look into the Prison-Industrial Complex.

  7. YTA. I have no words to convey what I think right now that wouldn’t result in a ban so we’ll leave it at that.

  8. Bodily autonomy doesn’t just apply to the people you think deserve it. That’s kind of the whole point.

  9. Yes, let’s incentivise putting people on death row, AND frame it as being for the good of the nation. I’m sure nothing obvious could go wrong.

    You’re not the arsehole, you’re a monster
