TL/DR: What are some good brands for painters overalls, and what kind of tools should be included in a starter mechanical toolset?
My (25F) bf (stb 34M) has a birthday annoyingly close to Christmas, and although he hasn’t put any pressure or emphasis on gifts, I would really like to get him a couple of really solid gifts. My love language (showing, not receiving) is gift giving so this time of year is my time to shine in showing him how much I care about and love him.
He’s mentioned before about wanting a pair of painters overalls (he does a lot of painting for side work) because he wants to be able to wear whatever without worrying about them getting ruined or something.
So what are some good brands to look for? I’ve considered Milwaukee (he’s a big fan) but those are s bit pricey plus I think he wouldn’t want to ruin them anyways. I’ve also thought about Carhart or Dickes, but I don’t really have any experience with these brands or any other so I’m struggling to figure out what to go with or if there are better out there. I’d love suggestions.
For another gift I’m wanting to get him a starter’s mechanic tool set so he can work on cars. I don’t really know if such a thing exists, and have yet to look into any, but he literally has no mechanical tools at all. He has a couple cars that need (I’m assuming) simple fixes like replacing ball joints and other small things but not having any of his own tools has been stopping him. He also just really enjoys tinkering around with vehicles so I know that a good set of tools would not only be beneficial, but it would also be fun for him.
However, I know absolutely nothing about cars or tools or anything in that world so I wouldn’t even know what to look for or what brands to avoid or what should absolutely be included. Please help
