WIBTA if I didn’t flip my fiancee’s laundry right side out?

My (m38) fiance (f37) HATES doing laundry. I don’t mind it, so I usually volunteer to do it, including folding and putting it away. However, for the 6 years we’ve been together, I’ve asked her to please flip her clothes right side out before putting them in the hamper, and she continually forgets or otherwise doesn’t do it. I’m tired of having to flip literally 90% of her clothes the right way before hanging them up or folding them. WIBTA if I just put them up as they are, thereby forcing her to flip them before wearing them?

I may be the AH because honestly it’s not a big deal, it’s just an annoyance. But I do feel like she’s a grown woman who is perfectly capable of doing it, and I’m tired of asking with no result. I’m willing to accept judgement either way

  1. I thought it was better for some garments to be washed inside out. In which case, you should be checking prewash and flipping those that need to be inside out, and be prepared this will mean flipping back when done.

But this is only if you want to do the job properly.

If you just want to get Kudos while putting in the minimum effort, I don’t think it matters.

    1. Yes exactly this. I had to read OP’s OG several times to realise they were advocating washing clothes the right side out. That’s how clothes and colours wear out quicker!

  2. NTA I have been married for over 25 years and I have had this argument with my husbands. However the clothes come out of the dryer is how they will get hung up. He acts like it’s no big deal for me to flip all his shirts I side out and I say if you want them hung a certain way you need to either put them in the laundry the correct way or get the clothes out of the dryer yourself!

Also any money found in the laundry is mine! Empty your own pockets if you want the money

  3. My husband and I just gave up that fight and honestly, we’re both okay if the laundry is inside out when hung up or folded. Its not like we won’t fix it when we wear it.

  4. A lot of clothes should be washed inside out, it helps them last longer and look better longer. I wash pretty much all of my shirts inside out and some of my pants. I take my shirts off inside out and put them in the laundry basket that way. If a shirt has a stain I turn it right side out to remember to treat it and then turn it inside out to wash.

  5. I wash 80% of my laundry inside out. It’s better for maintaining the color and texture of the fabric. Have you ever noticed that your black jeans are more faded on the outside and the texture is more “fuzzy” on the outside? That’s because they get beat up in the wash. Turn them inside out before washing and the faded worn side won’t be what people see. Same for graphic tshirts and knit items.

OP, this won’t solve the problem with your GF but it could help your clothes look new longer. For her, I suggest you shake them out and lay them out flat showing whatever side that was showing when she tossed them in. She loses her folding service.

  6. A lot of clothes SHOULD be washed inside out to preserve them btw. But NTA if you don’t flip it back for her. Just let her know – unless this is your only chore (or she does more tasks), you’re doing her a favor washing her clothes anyhow.

  7. Nta

Actually, there are a lot of clothing items that it is better to wash inside out. I get really annoyed when people do flip my laundry (though, I almost always do it myself)

  8. relationship dynamics are funny because something tiny like this suddenly becomes the hill someone wants to die on. i once dated someone who cared way too much about how towels were folded and it became an ongoing joke
