WIBTA? if I reported housemates that broke into my dorm room to the college they go so I don’t have to interact with them

Hi reddit

I’m really facing a problem as my roommates have broken into my room, in the apartment and filmed things they found dirty or disgusting (basically just a a plate from the night before and a bag of trash that I take down at the end of each week and clothes on the floor) although even if my room was disgusting, I feel as though they had no right unless there was a pungent smell or mould spreading to their room (there isn’t). one video was from a particularly awful day when I had to be hospitalized for illness and my room was far from clean and the other video is from today while I was at work critiquing how I have cleaned.

I have already reported It to my dorm landlord, and will be moving very soon due to the breach of privacy, but my problem comes with the fact that we work on the same campus of the same college and our classes are known to have to collaborate. I want to tell the college the situation and at the very least request to not be put together on any collaborative projects. but my roommate who told me of this whole situation and gave me the evidence is insistent that’s too far and that they don’t deserve the possibility that they are punished by the college or even kicked out (we’ve known it to happen for similar things).

So now I’m incredibly conflicted so please reddit

  1. I feel like a lot of information is missing.. there’s usually a HUGE reason people would make a video like that.. who did they share the videos with ?
You say roommates- so someone who also has a bed in the same room with you? Or more like flat mates/suite mates that all have separate bedrooms

    1. Flat mates and from what I can gather from speaking to the one flatmate who told me they shared it between friends and they plan to edit it to post with a voice over along the lines of here’s how to fail at life and were planning on getting more footage when I go to the store I always go on Sunday and usually leave my door open

  2. Demand to be moved to another room to get away from whoever entered your room without permission. Keep complaining until you are indeed moved.

As for having to deal with these same people in other situations, you can simply explain to any professor that you will not work on group projects with these particular students due to their behavior.

NTA but do get the administration to move you and then cut all contact with your former roommates.

    1. Thankfully the building is moving me to another room hopefully in the next two days they just have to prep the room and let me pack
