AITA after my friend got upset in the VC

Almost a month ago me and my friend had a discord chat in a VC, for the past two months up until that point, we had chatted like we had known each other our whole lives

He’s always been very kind and betrays himself as someone who is tough as nails. not caring when people insult him

But after a call we had almost a month ago, he got very upset with me and left the VC

I’m still not entirely sure if this is right but I’ve tried to piece this together

I don’t have much social experience growing up since I grew up in Asia, but this is what happened

During a conversation, we were both quite eager to talk to one another, since we were both quite busy at the time, and hadn’t had the chance to have a chat in a while

So after finding the time, we started to chat about anime and power scaling, this being the first time we talked about stuff like anime

But after he said he didn’t want to anymore, I had teased him a little, asking if he was sure he didn’t want to talk about my hero academia power scaling

But after he insisted he didn’t want to talk about it, I went to respond and agreed we didn’t have to anymore

But at the same time, he was also about to say something and I accidentally cut him off

He then said something about "being just like them"

I don’t know what that means, but I have a feeling I may have accidentally reminded him of someone who he didn’t like very much

And after he left the VC and returned to texting, I’d ask him if he was upset with me

His response "yes very"

Pointing out how I’d cut them off and how it had been happening throughout our conversation

This is because we couldn’t see each other when the other was about to start talking, we had both cut each other off a few times by accident

We were just very eager to chat again, and I guess he hit his limit

I tried to apologise but he said it was too late for it.

He then asked me to leave him alone and so I did

Not messaging him any new texts, instead I spent a few minutes editing my last message into an apology, intending for him to see it the next time he looked to our chat, since it wouldn’t ping him

But he had still been in the chat and saw the message edit

And got even more upset

I didn’t message him after that

After a few days work by, I panicked because I had been removed from a server, since I didn’t know what happened

He heard about it and calmed me down

But told me after how he’s still not over what happened and asked me not to message him or else he’d block me

Now it’s been almost a month, and his gf who I’m friends with as well, has also been quite silent recently

Messaging me how she’s also been dealing with her own S**t

And was sorry we couldn’t chat more

And since that was the only server I was in with them on. I don’t know what’s going on and how they’re feeling

I have the feeling that this is my fault and I don’t blame him at all. I believe he may be the guarded soul type

Am I an Ass hole?

I honestly could use some advice

  1. These people sound like terrible communicators. you can’t learn or change if you’re not told what you even did wrong. NTA

    1. I know it’s a little weird since his girlfriend said they there were both great at communication once before

  2. That seems like an overreaction on his part. Friends often tease each other, and everyone cuts each other off during conversations on accident. I don’t think you’re an asshole for that, especially as you already tried to apologize.
