AITA BF has roaches and I left in the middle of the night because of it.

My BF lives in an older apartment and I understand roaches come with the territory, one every now and again is a nuisance, however as of recent his place has become infested. Roaches of all sizes walking on the floors, the walls, the ceiling, counters, table, his BED. It’s to the point he doesn’t even squash them just brushes them away.

I’ve tried to be respectful but tonight while we were about to go to sleep one literally went into my EAR and he just tried to joke about it to make me feel better.

I couldn’t take it anymore and just up and left, I feel bad for leaving but I just felt so violated, I don’t want to go back.

AITA?

  1. I hate to say it, but don’t let him come to your house either. If it’s that bad it’s not impossible that one could hitch a ride in his clothes .

    1. Not just live roaches, but roach eggs could be carried in on BF’s clothes or belongings and then hatch and infest OP’s home. Roaches like to lay their eggs in dark places, so things like backpacks, overnight bags, shoes, and clothes from a closet or wardrobe could be carrying eggs.

Also, roaches do NOT “come with the territory” just because a building is old. BF needs to get an exterminator in there STAT before he infests everyone else’s apartment in the building!

  2. I’m sorry but the second a bug enters my ear, I am no longer a girlfriend. I am a flight risk. The fact that he jokes instead of calling pest control? Nah Love is patient, love is kind, but love is not coexisting with a roach commune on the ceiling. NTA.

  3. NTA.

I don’t even have to explain why, its very evident. Also, your boyfriend is lowkey disgusting if he’s alright living like that.
