Probably like 5 days ago, my 11 year old ran inside crying. This boy his age-ish, we know nothing but his first name, was live streaming both my 11 and 6 years olds. I walk our, I told him while our state is a one party consent state that only applies to adults and to ask permission, he said he understood. I literally explained how showing any descriptors of where’s minors are even his is dangerous. He said he understood.
2 days later, he posts a video on YouTube of my son mocking him. Going so far to use my sons legal name in in profile name. Changes the channels pfp to a pic of my son. I wrote a comment "please take this down I let you know it wasn’t okay" little kid responds with "nah cry about it"
I let it go. The next day he doxes my kid full address with zip and his image. I go to the housing office and they say to call non emergency line. It’s okay but I’m pissed. I have active restraining orders against those who would harm me and my kid. Not like the kid knows but still.
I find out my son has this kids phone number. Knowing kids don’t admit their wrongdoings I let him know law enforcement is involved and he and his parent need to apologize. I give my number after he pretends he is his mom.
She tells me doxxing is only in medical. Someone didn’t use Google but okay. I don’t go into the whole legal problem just what he did was illegal.
She says I had no right to call the cops. But her son literally just put me and my 3 kids at risk after nearly 7 years of being careful. AITA?
I can post screenshots of what the kid did. But I’d prefer not to as both of my younger children are in the ss along with my address. I would rather be called an asshole than actually put my kids in more danger.

Like I get protecting your kids — cause I live to protect mine– but they would never record anyone without consent. I’ve literally drilled into them consent and self protection from forever. Ignorance breeds stupidity; my kids will never be stupid. Maybe slow, maybe other, but never never stupid when self-preservation is there.

Either way I think NTA. Sounds like you had genuine concern for yours and your children’s safety. That kid sounds like he severely lacks accountability from his parents and must be a nightmare at school. I would inform the kids’ school of what has happened as well
I did. I called the non emergency line bc my kids weren’t in immediate danger just imminent danger. I have screenshots. I protect my kids.

It would be good if that kid gets enough consequences to shock him out of being a bully for the rest of his life. Sadly I’m not hopeful, judging by the interaction with the mother.

but you only because you gave the kids, and the mom, multiple chances to do right by taking it down. They refused to the do the right thing. AND you have an important reason to stay low key. If you just flat out called them you would be the asshole, but you gave them plenty of warning and opportunity.
NTA. What the other boy did was not “just a joke, ” and you had already explained that to him. He was passed that you called out his bad behavior and criticized him for engaging in it, so he retaliated by doing exactly what you had told him it was illegal for him to be doing. Now, both he and his mother are learning that his actions have very real legal consequences. You have every right (and a very real responsibility) to protect both of your kids (and hopefully, several other people’s children as well) from this cyberbully.

Bro… She says doxxing is only HIPAA… Baby doll literally said we had phone books before not realizing ppl could opt out and they were limited to one region not universal. Like her son broadcasts not just our address but his image online. I doesn’t matter how many saw it, anybody could have that info an an 11 year old….be baby doll even phone books didn’t have children listed.
