A week or two ago, my boss and another coworker asked me to go to an escape room with them. My boss had never done one and wanted to try it out before booking it as a whole team building exercise. I agreed to go this Saturday.
We didn’t talk about it for a while, and I had actually been sick most of the week and haven’t seen my coworkers, so I honestly kind of forgot about it. Today I’m better, and my dad surprised me with tickets this Saturday for our favorite college football team. It’s been something we’ve bonded over my entire life, and it’s been a while since we’ve been so I’m really excited.
I go back to work today, and my boss says she’s about to book the escape room. I apologized and said I couldn’t come anymore because my dad had surprised me with these tickets. Now they’re mad at me, but I think my dad and this more rare experience come first. AITA?
