My brother had a baby last year. Just before Christmas, my brother (who was previously sober) drank and behaved badly. His baby and ex have temporarily moved in with my mum, whilst looking for their own place locally. I also had a baby last year and have struck up a friendship with his baby mumma.
Christmas and New Year we all spent together and at the time I invited everyone to mine for end of Jan for a get together.
My brother now thinks I shouldn’t have invited his ex at all, and shouldn’t either moving forward. I understand that things are not going well between them and are continuing to deteriorate. I’m super keen to not get involved, but definitely want to keep seeing my niece and have my child and her develop a friendship, and his ex is currently prime care giver.
I’m now feeling guilty like I’m betraying my brother, but I feel like his dispute with her should be between them and he made her part of the family when he had a child with her?
