My friend hates Arsenal’s fans. Says they ‘over celebrate’ and calls them ‘cringey’ and ‘insufferable.’ I used to watch football when I was much younger to have something to discuss with classmates but don’t anymore. Haven’t for several years now, so I just listen when he vents and don’t comment on the topic.
He and his wife had to go on a business trip and left their son(14) with me for eight days. During that time I took him to a bookstore. The kid likes reading biographies and autobiographies. Celebs, politicians, sport icons etc. He asked me to buy him Wenger’s. I didn’t think much of it. Had no idea he’d end up supporting Arsenal.
This really upset my friend, who said I shouldn’t have gotten his son the book, knowing how he feels about the club and their supporters.
NTA. If Beckham managed to get over the fact that his son is an arsenal supporter then your friend will get over it too.
NTA. you bought a kid a book he was interested in, about a famous manager, not some kinda manifesto. kids are allowed to have different interests than their parents (as long as it’s not something morally wrong or dangerous), and discovering those interests is kind of the whole point of being 14. buying a biography isn’t indoctrination, and getting mad about it just makes him look controlling and immature.
Now that actually *was* a ludicrous display from your friend last night.
