As the title states. I’ve lived in California for my entire life, and I don’t fit here in at all. I’m everything that the vast majority of Californians hate. I legitmently couldn’t care less if I never stept foot in this state ever again.
Any suggestions?
What’s your ideal geography and what do you like to do?
Probably a southern state, like Alabama or Mississippi. Bible Belt area.
If you’re looking for the opposite culturally you’re going to need to describe that because everyone will think you mean politically but northern California is pretty opposed to southern California politically so if that’s what you’re looking for it’s in state.
Maybe define what you’re looking for a bit more deeply than “opposite of California.” Some could tell you it’s Texas, some could say New York. The same person is not looking at both those places.
I would guess Indiana
Anyone who’s spent a few minutes in Cali understands that there are vast differences between various regions. Redding is def not San Fran, and most inland smaller cities are conservative. If you want to experience real hate, particularly the religious kind, there are plenty of rural states that will welcome you. They hate the same people you do. Idaho has entered the chat LOL.
Just go to Bakersfield where they love racists and love using Christianity/patriotism as an excuse to be hateful 😂
Depending on what you’re looking for, could be Utah, New Hampshire, Wyoming, Texas, or Alaska, or several other states.
Wyoming
The plains states of the Midwest seem to be the most opposite of the culture in the big coastal metro areas of CA. The south is also very culturally different.
You barely have to drive an hour away from the major cities to get a totally different flavor of California.
On behalf of everybody with empathy in California, we’re glad to see you go! No room here for cowardly bigots.
Unfortunately my suggestion may run afoul of Reddit’s rules, so I’ll just say anywhere but here is fine.
I lived in California for more than six decades. I’ve traveled some and have lived in a few other states. I would say Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, Montana, North Dakota, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Iowa, and Utah are the top 10.
You’ve lived in California your whole life and don’t realize how wide the spectrum is of what California is? California is so many different things depending on where in California you go.
Montana or Wyoming. It’s going to be a culture shock though.
