Im 24F, my boyfriend 24M, been together for almost 3 years. We love each other a lot, we fought a lot before but not now. I am just wondering why do people that have been together for 6+ years breakup if there is no specific reason like lack of respect, cheating, or laziness. We say the perfect relationship but one of them wants to break up.
Im so scared of this happening, like imagine loving somone with all of your heart, giving 7 years of your life to them and then they just break up with you?
Im not trying to shame anyone❤️ If you don’t want to be in the relationship then you shouldn’t use the amount of time you’ve been together as an excuse of course, and everyone has their reasons❤️ We should do whatever we can to make ourselves happy.
So does anyone know?? If you have done this why?
The reasons for leaving a relationship are infinite and it doesn’t necessarily need to be a bad relationship to not be right.
I broke it off with my ex after nearly 6 years together in my mid twenties. And while he was an absolutely lovely human, our lives were going down drastically different paths. He was also struggling with his mental health and refusing to accept any kind of help which made it difficult as his partner because I was basically becoming a stand in therapist.
Usually around the 7 year mark people have somewhat changed and things can become stagnant regardless if married or not. Another issue can be couples get together young (or if one is young), then they tend to build resentment against their partner as they havent lived their best lives in their early 20s because they’ve been playing families instead of a wild single person who’s having more fun.
I broke up after 8 years because our relationship had died. Best decision ever, we’ve been good friends for almost 9 years now.
Usually it’s diverging life paths. One ex just wanted to do drugs and play in a rock band. Another decided he didn’t want kids and I did. It’s kind of simple when you’re young tbh, enjoy that time.
